MEET THE COACHES
VARSITY
Coach Hartrum
Varsity Head Coach
Coach Hartrum became the head coach of the Warriors in 2021. Prior to returning to his Alma Mater he was a volunteer assistant at Nazareth under legendary coach Dave Crowell. Coach Hartrum served as a volunteer for the Blue Eagles during the 2019 and 2020 season. He served as the head assistant at Easton from 2016-2020, a volunteer assistant at Parkland from 2012 to 2014, and a volunteer under long time Coach Tom Mertz at Wilson from 2008 to 2012.
As a wrestler, Coach Hartrum was a four year letter winner at North Carolina State University serving as team captain two of those years. He placed 5th at the Southern Scuffle, was an ACC runner up, and an NCAA Division I National Qualifier. In high school, Hartrum competed for the Warriors. He had a career record of 148-24, is the all-time wins leader at Wilson, was a four time District XI finalist and three time champion, four time Regional place winner and three time champion, four time PIAA State Qualifier and three time PIAA State Place Winner; placing 6th, 2nd, and 1st. Coach Hartrum was a member of the 2001 and 2002 PIAA State Championship teams. He was also a three time Beast of the East place winner; placing 7th, 6th, and 1st and was named the tournament’s most outstanding wrestler in 2002. He was a four time Bethlehem Holiday Classic place winner finishing 4th, 2nd, 1st, and 1st. In 2002 Coach Hartrum was named to the Asics Boys Team as an All American and competed in the Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic. He was recently inducted into the District XI Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Coach Frey
Head Varsity Assistant
Coach Frey began his reign as the head assistant for the Warriors in 2021. Previously he was a volunteer coach at Wilson under long time Head Coach Tom Mertz as well as a longtime volunteer for the Wilson Youth Wrestling Program.
Coach Frey wrestled at Wilson under legendary coach Dave Crowell. He compiled a high school career record of 98-32, was a two time district place winner; placing 3rd and 1st, two time Regional Runner up, and a PIAA State 4th place finisher. Coach Frey also placed 4th at the Bethlehem Holiday Classic and 7th at the Beast of the East Tournament. Coach Frey was also a member of the 2001 and 2002 State Championships teams.
Coach Kushnerick
Varsity Assistant
Coach Kushnerick began volunteering for the Warriors in 2021. Prior to his return to Wilson, Coach Kushnerick volunteered as an assistant for Phillipsburg High School (NJ) from 2014 to 2016. He was an integral part of the Liners coaching staff helping them to earn two team state championships as well as helping several individuals accomplish goals of becoming state place winners and attending college to continue their academic and wrestling careers. Coach Kushnerick taught technique as a private clinician in Haddonfield, NJ upon graduating college and up until the time he joined the Phillipsburg coaching staff.
As a wrestler Coach Kushnerick was a four year varsity letter winner at Columbia University. He complied a high school record of 112-24 for the Warriors. He was a two time District XI Champion, two time Regional place winner; placing 3rd and 2nd, two time PIAA State Qualifier, and a PIAA State 4th place finisher. Coach Kushnerick was a two time Bethlehem Holiday Classic place winner; finishing 4th and 3rd and a Beast of the East 6th place finisher. He was also named the Morning Call's All Area 1st Team his senior season. Coach Kushnerick was a member of the 2001 and 2002 PIAA State Championship teams.
Coach Thatcher
Varsity Assistant
Coach Thatcher began as an assistant for the Warriors in 2021. Prior to coming to Wilson he coached at Emmaus for seven seasons serving as a JR High assistant for two years and high school assistant for five. Coach Thatcher played an integral role in helping re-establish Emmaus wrestling. He helped coach several District, Regional, and State place winners.

As a wrestler Coach Thatcher wrestled for Del Val (NJ). He compiled a career record of 72-28 was a two time District place winner; placing 3rd and 1st, a Regional runner up, and state qualifier. Coach Thatcher was a member of the 1999 State Championship team for the Terriers and a member of the 2001 and 2002 team that finished 2nd.
Coach Moll
Varsity Assistant
Coach Jim Moll is a 1999 graduate of Wilson Area High School where he was a 4 year varsity wrestler. He won the 1999 District Championship at 119 pounds. He then went on to place 3rd in the Region and 7th at the State Tournament. Coach Moll also participated in cross country as a senior. He began his coaching career in 2003 at Palisades High School as an assistant coach, while finishing his education degree at Delaware Valley College. Upon graduation, he was hired as an assistant coach here at Wilson for two seasons before being hired as a teacher at Northwestern Lehigh. After two seasons as the NWL Junior High coach, he took over the Varsity program in which he was the head coach for 14 seasons. During this time as head coach, Northwestern earned 4 District XI Officials Sportsmanship Awards, had numerous District champions, Regional Champions, and a PIAA State Medalists. He was the longest tenured head coach in the program's history and holds the current record for most wins in the program’s history. Coach Moll is in his 16th year teaching Technology Education at Northwestern Lehigh Middle School, and lives in Palmer Township with his 9 year old daughter, Harper.
JUNIOR HIGH
Coach A. Hartrum
Head Jr. High Coach
Coach Hartrum returned to Wilson as the Head Junior High Wrestling Coach in 2021. It was a welcome return for the long time Wilson diehard. Coach Hartrum began coaching at the youth level in 1988. Over the years he has been instrumental in developing Warrior talent. He was a member of the high school coaching staff when the Warriors won the 2001, 2002, and 2003 State Championships. He has served in many different aspect of the program for many years; head youth coach, head junior high coach, high school volunteer assistant. Coach Hartrum is notorious for helping to build strong feeder programs and has made a significant impact on the Junior High program in his short two years. The program went from four team members to fifteen in just two years.
As a wrestler Coach Hartrum competed for Voorhees High School (NJ).
Coach Arnone
Head Jr. High Assistant
Coach Arnone began volunteering at Wilson in 2022. Prior to joining the Warriors he served as a Junior High Head Coach at Honesdale where he helped coach his team to a league championship, and multiple top five district finishes. Coach Arnone helped develop several District II champions and place winners. He is a USA Wrestling Bronze Certified Coach and was the Director of NE Vipers Wrestling Club. As a coach for the Vipers he was able to help many cadet and junior division wrestlers become state place winners.
As a wrestler Coach Arnone competed for Honesdale and was a team captain. He was a league champion and four time District place winner. He was also named to the District and Regional All Star Teams. Coach Arnone competed in freestyle and was a cadet and junior state qualifier, place winner, and national qualifier.
